  • a telescopic perspective…

have you ever looked through a telescope?  yes, we see images from space all of the time; so much so that we are most likely completely desensitized to such astonishing images.  however, taking the time to not only look for yourself, but to think for yourself is (as mastercard drums into our brain) priceless.

tonight mr. parks and i set up one of his new christmas gifts from my parents; a telescope.  he has mentioned, from time to time, about his interest in space and in one day buying a telescope.  my mom, being the wonderfully astute and caring woman that she is, picked up on these subtle references and completely surprised mr. parks with a telescope.  mr. parks, the recipient of the gift, is the one who should be exclusively enjoying this special gift – and he is, to a certain extent - but i feel a bit like a thief because i have swooped in and enjoyed his gift almost as much as he has!!

tonight was the first night that i have ever viewed the moon so closely.  i could feel it in my heart, how incredible it is to realize in a moment how big and how small that your presence is in this universe.  if our galaxy is comprised mostly of space, dotted with planets and moons; well, than who’s to say that every single cell in our body isn’t another level of such a scheme?  i think it’s presumptuous to think that our earth, and human kind as we know it, is unique.  i think that the greatest argument for god lies in the vastness of the universe and the infinity of time.  those are the things that “prove” god to me.  my “god” would create something more than i could ever possibly fathom as a human.  it’s not written in a book, it’s not told by a man or a woman – it’s something that is reserved for not even a mind to contrive.  we are so gravely limited by our mammalian ability to think.  after all, we can only think within a certain set of boundaries, whether we want to break out of that or not.  it’s not possible.

this all serves both to comfort me and to freak me out.  the bottom line is that everything that is to happen will simply happen, whether we understand it or not.  it’s nice to think that we might understand it, but i sort of hope that we won’t – it makes god a lot more “real” to me if we cannot understand the scheme.  unfortunately, we are sometimes trying to understand the scheme within what may be a limited realm of understanding.  this actually creates a human drama, since the only thing that our brains are equipped to handle is the development of personalities with human chracteristics.

i apologize for perhaps getting too complex on this whole thing – what i meant to say, is, “sit back, and enjoy the ride!!!”  all of you, thanks for taking a moment to read our blog.  we greatly appreciate all feedback, as our goal is to create the broadest of perspectives from which we can forge an interesting conversation.  good night to all, and *almost* happy new year’s!!!  mrs. parks

i couldn’t understand so much, ’cause I don’t speak english well, but i agree with you in one thing: God becomes more real when we don’t understand him…

i hope to keep writing to you…

Nice follow up to Jesus Camp for ya…He bought Meth from a gay masseuse (who ended up being a prostitute) who was referred to him by the many hotels he stays at while in Denver (supposedly to write) didn’t sleep with him, and then threw the Meth away when he got home…hmmmmm…

This guy is a liar. Idiot.

Meth rots people’s brains, meth-heads tell the most outragous lies and believe them to boot. When their house of lies starts to collapse, more lies is all they know.

The sad thing is that people keeping falling for these charismatic “leaders” despite how so so many of them turn out. From crap like this to Jonestown, what a farce.

As I all too frequently say, Satan does his finest work in the name of the Lord.

Why are christians so obsessed with other peoples sexuality..so obsessed with sex, gender and genitals…really, don’t they worry about real stuff , like poverty, famine, environmental degradation, war and pestilence, the rich gettting richer and the poor getting more destitute.

Why do they get so obessed with homosexuals, claiming it is a threat to the family ..HOW? if your husband runs off with the hussy next door, how can it be the fault of gays/lesbians? How can gays/lesbians be responsible for 50% divorce rate ( incidentally highest divorce are in the bible belt ha ha ).

If your son does drug and your daughter gets laid while on booze – how is that the fault of gays/lesbians. Christians historically sought out scape-goats..they used to blame Jews, then blacks, then gypsies , then women and now since it is no longer fashionable to blame jews or blacks etc, they have to pick on vulnerable minorities like gays and lesbians.

Hitler did not kill 6 million jews in a vacuum. Centuries of marginalization and denigration and demonizing of jews as Jesus killer enable common german citizens to exercise false moral authority in killing jews. In like fashion centuries of demonizing and denigration of homosexuals embolden wicked and otherwise morally bankrupt ‘straight’ bigots to descrimiaate and do violence to gay and lesbian and other sexual minorities .

Furthermore picking on a scape-goat makes christians feel superior and ‘saved’. Denigrating others is easier than exercising love, charity and compassion which is actually the most basic teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Sadly Christians hardly practise the most important commandemt of Jesus ie. Love God then immediately love your neighbour as yourself ( be he/she gay or staight).

It is AMAZING HOW MANY PEOPLE CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS WHEN THEY IN FACT DO NOT PRACTISE THE MOST IMPORTANT COMMANDMENT OF JESUS !!! THEY WOULD RATHER BE HYPOCRITES AND BE LIKE THE PHARASEES OF OLD DUUUH !

I’m not really sure; i don’t believe in God Mikhail. I admire a lot of the Judeo-Christian ethic though…and as for the homosexual obsession- why are you so effected by it? I guess i could understand if you are gay, but a gay Christian??? Wow, that would be something!
