Well, the first day of our Lemon, maple syrup, cayenne pepper fast (aka Master Cleanse) is going ok i suppose. Steph and I are going on a ten day fast – no solid food, no alcohol, or coffee, or anything, just this weird spicy lemon drink that we must ingest ten times a day. You mix Lemon juice with Grade B maple syrup and a pinch of cayenne pepper, with water. The purpose is to give your digestion system a break while flushing out all kinds of toxins, and cleaning your whole system. I guess the third day is supposed to be the worst – i guess we will find out. I'm already hungry though. It's about four hours into it. Could this be a problem?
There is another little glorious step needed to get the full benefits of the fast, and that is a salt water cleansing. It is like drowning in the ocean. It's horrible. It's basically a liter of water with two teaspoons of sea salt dumped in it, and then you chug. You do this terrible feat once a day, first thing in the morning. About 45 minutes later, if you can successfully fight the urge to vomit, you better be near a toilet or you will have to shower and then burn the clothes you were wearing. You apparently will have several scary bowel movements. You have just been flushed. You follow this up with the Lemon Juice concoction, which isn't too bad, with the exception that it looks like you are drinking a bottle of urine. This is by far the weirdest thing i have ever attempted. Who do i think i am? Who am i kidding? Can i really do this? Steph will probably be able to hold out longer than i can. Well, i guess we will keep you guys updated.
